Katy & Rach

Alexis Gallagher

Alexis is our esteemed director.  He trained in New York with the New
Actors Workshop and with the improv troupes Burn Manhattan and the
Upright Citizens Brigade, and in Chicago with the Annoyance Theatre.
He has written plays and screenplays, and appeared in the Edinburgh
Fringe production of The Spanish Interludes. Improbably, he is also a
PhD candidate at Oxford University.

Alexis is sure improv is the next big thing. It’s like rock & roll,
when rock & roll was just a guy named Chuck Berry duckwalking across
the bandstands of Illinois. Or it’s like the tiny corner, poking out
of the ground, of a buried alien spaceship. Right now some curiosity
seekers gather around it on weekend, have little parties, and marvel
at the fact that it can make their hats levitate. But if we just took
some time to dig around the edges, we’d find something much bigger,
something that will take us all to another planet.

Alexis is sure Katy & Rach will reach the moon at least.

What Katy thinks about Alexis

Katy thinks that Alexis is surely a robot.  But a nice one, not like HAL or IRobot or the Borg.  More like Data from Star Trek.  He's a mine of information with real, tangible human feelings and a good selection of home made hats.  Katy particularly likes it when he uses the phrase 'Dominate the Community' and when he outsources the transcription of cannonical improvisation clips to the Third World.  Katy is yet to see Alexis drunk.

What Rach thinks about Alexis

Rachel has seen Alexis drunk and it was pretty funny. All they talked about really was Monogamy... The Do’s and Don’ts and watched as other people slowly drifted off to more exciting conversations. The only way Rachel could tell he was drunk was because the red circles in his cheeks got bigger and redder. Rachel remembers fondly the night Alexis stayed the night on her and Dr. B’s sofa and answered some pressing questions about quantum mechanics. Those were the days. Alexis is a wonderful human being.
