Katy and Rach perform improvised theatre.
"You can smell the non-existent cigarettes"

Katy and Rach is a totally improvised 1 hour show about real life performed by award-winning actresses Katy Schutte and Rachel Blackman.  Unlike other improv shows, they don't play games or take suggestions from the audience, they just turn the lights on and start.

About the Show

As actresses and improvisers Rachel Blackman and Katy Schutte have long been frustrated that the worlds of improvised comedy and theatre are perceived as being poles apart. So they got together with director Alexis Gallagher to develop a show that combines the humour and spontaneity of improvised comedy with the character driven richness and emotional complexity of modern theatre. Add to this a filmic naturalism and the feeling that you’re meeting characters you’ve known your whole life and you’ll come close to describing the experience of watching Katy and Rach.

Katy and Rach comes out as already complete script, economic and feeling as if it has already been under the editor's knife...  A skillset that few pure improvisation creatures have got - beautiful and engaging stagecraft.
